The Black Fatherhood Project Film Screening Promotes Community Discussion

The film screening of The Black Fatherhood Project by Jordan Thierry was a total success, and we could not have pulled it off without the help of our partner organizations, the Children's Trust and theBoston Public Health Commission. In this powerful film, Thierry guides the audience through an open dialogue examining fatherhood in Black America.
 After the screening, Thierry led a productive group discussion exploring participants' perceptions of the film and the reality of Black Fatherhood in their own lives and communities. We hope that this knowledge and insight will now foster new directions and innovations in our network.

Countdown to Kindergarten's 15th Annual Citywide Kindergarten Celebration!

The Vital Village team joined volunteers at Countdown to Kindergarten's 15th Annual Citywide Kindergarten Celebration! Our partners, the Boston Public Schools and the Boston Children's Museum,
put in a lot of hard work to help organize
 this incredible event which served over 800 kids and families.
Countdown to Kindergarten offered attendees many valuable resources, such as dental and eye screening and answers to last minute school questions, as the prepared for the first day of school! All in all, it was a FUN and informative event for prospective kindergartners!

Vital Village Community Partnership Outreach Work

The Vital Village Community Partnership (VVCP) has been doing a lot of great community outreach work to inform people about neighborhood events and programs, strengthen network relationships, and forge new network connections.
Just this past month, VVCP has represented the network at Madison Park's National Night Out and the Family Independence Initiative BBQ. Vital Village is impressed by the level of commitment and dedication that our resident members in VVCP enthusiastically sustain. Keep up the great work!

Project Hope's Family Literacy Event

The Vital Village loves to see our partners collaborate! In collaboration with our partner the Dudley Square Neighborhood Initiative and the Roberto Clemente 21 Sports League, Project Hope hosted a literacy event for informal care providers, families and children of ages 0-5 years. The mix of storytelling, face painting, games, crafts, prizes and food mad a fun environment to motivate parents and informal care providers to read to their younger children more often.
